Education Supervisor

Gloucester, MA

Gloucester - 35 hours per wk. at 52 weeks per yr.

Job Summary:   This position works in conjunction with the Program Administrator and Education Manager to provide technical assistance and supervision to all program teaching staff as assigned. Ensures that all education activities, materials, furnishings, and center arrangements in classrooms are in compliance with ACF, EEC, NAEYC, and QRIS standards to support developmentally appropriate and safe learning environments for children.  Ensures that all classrooms are appropriately staffed and in compliance with ratios at all times and that effective communication is maintained with parents, staff, and collateral organizations.

 Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensures adequate classroom teacher coverage at all times
  • Train and orient new teachers to the agency and the performance standards
  • Maintain organized documentation as required by work plan
  • Conducts monthly observations of classrooms (health, safety, education)
  • Provides individual teacher support and gives feedback to teachers both verbal and written monthly
  • Convenes monthly Teacher meetings (in conjunction with Program Administrator)
  • Responsible for Performance Evaluations and assists with Individual Professional Development Plans for (teachers)
  • Assists with planning and implementing trainings for teachers in conjunction with Education Manager
  • Ensures that teachers follow work plans in conjunction with Education Manager’s timelines
  • Supervises the development and implementation of lesson plans and ensures that teachers individualize for children and conduct regular child observations
  • Monitors the physical safety of classrooms and teacher compliance with taking headcounts and attendance
  • Meets with interdisciplinary staff for team meetings (Behavior Specialists, Social Service, Health, Coaches, etc.)
  • Supports parent involvement and center committee meetings
  • Responsible for site supervision (in conjunction with the Program Administrator) and ensures that classrooms maintain ratio requirements and are compliant with Federal and State regulatory guidelines for appropriate supervision
  • Maintains open communication with collaborative partners and shares information with administration and program staff
  • Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care Director II certification
  • EEC Lead Teacher Preschool Certification
  • EEC Lead Teacher Infant Toddler Certification (if location has infant and toddler classrooms)
  • Minimum of Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (Bachelor’s degree preferred) or related field (at least 18 credits in early childhood) with at least 3 years’ experience as a lead teacher

Other Requirements

  • Pass CORI, SORI, DCF, and fingerprint clearance
  • Possess valid MA driver’s license and proof of auto insurance and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to sit at desk/computer for extended periods of time
  • Requires physical flexibility and mobility indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to lift  up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to make observations
  • Complete and maintain all EEC Essentials trainings
  • Successfully complete an employment physical and provide proof of the absence of TB within 7 days of hire
