We have an exciting opportunity for an Early Childhood Education Teacher Apprentice who will gain certification and learn in a supportive classroom atmosphere.

20 hours per week program offered in our Gloucester, Salem and Beverly centers.  

Deadline to apply for this opportunity is June 30, 2024. The interview process will include a panel interview at our Gloucester center. Selection for participation in the program will be announced via acceptance letter.

WHAT WILL YOU DO AS AN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION TEACHER APPRENTICE?

Under the supervision of the Education team, this position assists Head Start and Early Head Start classroom teachers with the day-to-day operations.  Apprenticeship participants will be active contributors to their classrooms as they work towards developing the skills and certification as an EEC Head Start Preschool Teacher.

  • Work closely with assigned teaching team to observe children in the classroom setting
  • Complete coursework and assignments in an on-time fashion communicating with your supervisor on a regular basis and seeking support if needed
  • Attend all NSCC classes via Zoom signing into your learning Dashboard and regularly check your Pathways e-mail
  • Maintain Chrome book in working order 
  • Attend required meetings and participate in training opportunities to enhance personal and professional growth. Course work includes Child Growth and Development and Introduction to CDA.
  • Complete 480 + hours of classroom time under supervision of certified teaching staff and complete EEC observation to obtain credential

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE AN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION TEACHER APPRENTICE?

  • 18 Years of age or older
  • Highs School Diploma or GED
  • Provide completed physical obtained within the last 12 months and provide proof of MMR and COVID Vaccine
  • Pass CORI, SORI, DCF, and fingerprint clearance
  • Signed Career Development Plan to successfully complete the 9-month coursework and 480 hours of classroom observation
