We are currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Associate to supportthe day-to-day upkeep of our facilities. The idealcandidate is a capable “handy person” who can independently complete routinemaintenance tasks, respond to minor facility issues, andproactively identify and address potential problems before theyescalate.
This role iswell-suited for someone who takes initiative, values steady, meaningful work,and takes pride in maintaining safe, functional environments forchildren and families.
Schedule: 15 hours per week
Location: Primarily based in Gloucester and Beverly, will some support to other centers on the North Shore
Pay range: $30-35 as a part-time hourly employee, $35-40 as a contractor (must provide proof of Workers Compensation insurance coverage)
About the Role:
Routine Maintenance & Work Orders
- Review, prioritize, communicate and complete maintenance work orders (via a cloud-based program) in a timely, financially sound, and professional manner
- Perform general repairs, including:
- Hanging or mounting items (shelves, fixtures, signage)
- Minor carpentry, patching, and basic repairs
- Removing or replacing fixtures and equipment as needed
- Maintain organized records and updates on completed work
Preventative Maintenance
- Conduct regular walk throughs to identify maintenance needs
- Proactively address issues before they become larger or more costly
- Help maintain clean, safe, and operational environments across all sites
Basic Plumbing & On-Site Response
- Serve as first responder for minor plumbing and facilities issues
- Address simple problems such as clogs, leaks, and equipment resets
- Escalate more complex issues as appropriate
Education and/or Experience
Qualifications
- Experience in general building maintenance or handyman work
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively with minimal supervision
- Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems (non-licensed work)
- Comfortable interacting professionally with staff and external vendors
Work Order & Systems Use
- Comfortable using computers and Microsoft software programs (Outlook & Word)
- Ability to monitor and manage work orders using a cloud-based system suchas Fresh Service
- Track, update, and close out work orders with clear documentation
- Coordinate completion of work directly or through vendors
Other Requirements
- Successfully complete an employment physical (pre-employment physical must be within one year of hiring date)
- Maintain licensor background check requirements
